Cold Brew Coffee

When we first started dating, my husband didn’t drink coffee at all.  Crazy, I know.  Over the last 5 years, he has become somewhat of a coffee fanatic.  Coffee everyday.  Espresso machine at our house.  He looks forward to work trips to go to a certain coffee shop for “the best” latte.  Ryan’s latest coffee obsession is cold brew. 

I figured I may as well try making him some cold brew. It is so easy!  Probably easier than making hot coffee actually. Try it!

You’ll need:

An air tight jar or container

Large bowl

Fine mesh strainer

Paper towels 

4 cups cold water

1 1/3 cups of ground coffee

Start by adding the coffee grounds to the jar or container. 


Add the 4 cups of water, close the jar and refrigerate overnight.


The next day, line your strainer with a single layer of paper towels. (Ok, so you can use cheese cloth for this I guess.  Really, who has cheese cloth laying around the house though? I can promise you that I never will.)  Pour the jar through the paper towel lined strainer into a clean, large bowl. You may need to strain it twice to make sure all the grounds are out.


You can drink the cold brew just like that or you can add cream or sugar.


That’s it’s! That is all it takes to make cold brew.  I make a batch for the week, but it usually only lasts a day or two.  Happy caffeinating!
